Journal of a Newbie Part 6

So here we are at the start 3rd week in November already and my quest to become an Affiliate Marketer continues. I would like to start off talking about a few things this week that are my thoughts to very new people. I now have 2 completed Landing Pages to bring online. This is pretty exciting to me because I built these every step of the way. Now I am not expecting that these first to tries at a Landing Page with be a total success, heck they might even be a complete failure. But something that I am learning about working your own business is that a Failure can be a success if you put your time and thought and energy into it. Yes these first pages may fail but you learn from what you did and move forward. I believe if you do that you will have success. When I read threads on this forum, I read about a lot of people that want this opportunity to instantly give them success and financial gain. This is just not realistic. If you are in a total financial distress in this bad economy it’s not a good idea to bet it all on starting your own business. I am lucky to have a job in the Information Technology field and this means I don’t have to turn a profit to put food on the table. If you are new and don’t have an income I would strong suggest you find even a part time job so you can work on this business with the thought of building something without the stress of “What will I do if I don’t make money instantly” Ok that is my thought, feel free to tell me to shut up or that I am full of crap LOL.

So, yes as I was saying I am ready to bring 2 landing pages on line and see if I can direct some traffic to them with only the smallest of a budget. This will mainly be a test to understand Traffic / Cost. I want to know if I can drive traffic to my page with little or no money with just the skills I have learned this far in my education of Affiliate Marketing. I want to know what I don’t know. I also am going to start trying to understand SEO and the proper use of tags in your website. Ok I know you’re thinking “wow” that sure sounds fun… Yes I was thinking the same thing and a little voice was saying screw it, just go surfing. But no, I will work on SEO and learning how to use tags. I really believe learning these thing are necessary to make any kind of real profit. And well that’s why I am here. Aren’t you?

On to my work using PPC. First off let me say Google Adwords is driving me crazy!! I am just having a heck of a time getting any Ad to be accepted. It’s like no matter what you do or fix they find something else to decline my ad. It gives me a really bad headache dealing with them lol. On the other hand the Microsoft Ad Center has been great, they have got on the phone with me and helped me with targeting and keywords. This really helped me a lot. I also have placed a couple ads on Facebook and Adbrite. The response has been ok it has cost me some money but so far in November I am in the black $7.80!!! Hey don’t laugh it’s a profit and I do see a pizza in my future.. Ok some Larry advice.. Be very careful with PPC it can suck money right out of your wallet faster than the Federal Government on April 15th.
